Important Notice: Funding for the Canadian Vaccine Catalogue will expire on March 31, 2024. As of April 1, 2024, the CVC will no longer be available to the public. The Public Health Agency of Canada PHAC is developing a new National Vaccine Catalogue (NVC) that will replace the CVC as a public resource for vaccine standards in Canada.
The CVC is developed and maintained by CANImmunize, with support from Canada Health Infoway.
Each month, the CVC brings together the most up-to-date immunization terminology and product data and is designed to extend the Pan-Canadian Immunization SNOMED CT Reference Sets developed by Canada Health Infoway.
The CVC Working Group manages the content and release cycle of the CVC. It is the main contributor of content to the Pan-Canadian Immunization Reference Sets maintained by Canada Health Infoway.
The Working Group is open to all stakeholders who wish to participate in monthly meetings.
Implement up-to-date vaccine picklists backed by standardized terminology, which improves data quality and allows clinician EMRs and immunization repositories to exchange information
Configure systems with standardized terminology and support supply chain management with mapping of Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) to SNOMED CT codes
Capture vaccination information in third-party digital health applications, facilitating interoperability with immunization information systems
The Canadian Vaccine Catalogue maps GTIN data to SNOMED CT concepts to support barcode scanning of vaccine product information into provincial repositories, electronic medical records and inventory management systems.
